Funktion-One's new soundsystem looks killer

Vero is going to be on show in Frankfurt next month

Audio specialist Funktion-One is promising "to re-define audio and operational performance expectations" with its new Vero soundsystem.

Containing speakers, amplifiers, cabling, rigging, transport dollies, weatherproof covers and software, the company states the new system "is conveniently arrayable and boasts a new level of performance characteristics relating to sound quality, efficiency and directivity."

Born out of frustration of apparent dwindling sound quality at shows, there's six loudspeakers, three PLM 20K44 amplifiers (protected with "bulletproof reliability") and Projection software which allows on-point audience coverage. This is assisted by the availability of a venue plan and 3D screens.

Tony Andrews, who worked with John Newsham and Funktion-One on Vero, said: “Talking from the perspective I have right now, just before we launch, I believe Vero will turn out to be one of the most important developments to come out of almost five decades working in audio.

"The last six years has certainly been the most challenging – and rewarding – R&D period I’ve experienced. We’re very much looking forward to introducing Vero to the world and seeing what it is truly capable of in the live environment."

Other new products, being exhibited at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt from April 5 to 8, are the Evo 7T and Evo 7E loudspeakers.
