​Floating Points shares first new music in a year

‘Vocoder’ comes almost 12 months after the critically acclaimed album ‘Promises’

Floating Points has just released his first new music in almost a year.

The brand new single titled ‘Vocoder’ dropped yesterday, March 9, via Ninja Tune marking his first release since 2021’s critically acclaimed record ‘Promises’ in collaboration with Pharaoh Sanders and The London Symphony Orchestra.

“Finishing this up in the studio… New track ‘Vocoder’ out this Wednesday on all digi platforms,” Floating Points announced on Instagram on Monday with a snippet of the new track.

Dropping the 7-minute long track today, the DJ and producer hones back in on club-focused sounds with choppy, glitchy, drums, synths and vocal samples.

Almost 12 months to the date earlier, Floating Points released ‘Promises’ with American saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders and orchestral group London Symphony Orchestra, instantly receiving critical acclaim.

The hotly-tipped record, a fusion of jazz, classical and electronic, reached number one in multiple best album of 2021 lists.
