Feathericci - 8/10

Sza Geow

Feathericci’s strong new EP covers various different tempos and moods. First up is ‘Mushdoum’, a low-slung chugger that’s full of swagger; a self-assured opener, it sets the mood with its stark synths and subtle nuances before sporadic shapes break into the mix to make it even more arresting.

Simply labelling ‘Sza Geow’ as tech-house would be lazy, as it’s so much more; it’s a multi-faceted cut layered with warm pads, analogue bass and rising drones. The final track is halfway house that plods along with lazy percussion, faint melodies and a poised bass that behaves and never cuts through to keep this a classy piece of melancholia.
