Essential: Firma do Txiga’s self-titled affair on Príncipe

Heavy, minimal and aggressive – in the happiest way possible

Lisbon-based label Príncipe is known for its dedication to authentic contemporary dance music, and with a three-cut release from production trio Firma do Txiga forthcoming this June, the project shares the Portuguese tarraxo scene with a wider audience of underground listeners.

Debuting as a 3 x 7” boxset, each 7” will showcase K30’s, DJ NinOo’s and Puto Anderson’s stylings in an inter-connected space.

Described as “three branches of the same tree”, the tracks move through from the sparse atmospheres and exotic percussive punches on K30’s productions, to the spacey synth sounds and romantic inclinations seen in DJ DinOo’s offerings.

Finally, with two older cuts from Puto Anderson, the relentless, gritty groove is said to, “push us back to the sort of raw ground zero where the whole Batida substance has evolved from”. Heavy, minimal and aggressive – in the happiest way possible.

‘Firma do Txiga’ is out June 19 on Príncipe. Get your pre-orders in here and check out the sampler below.
