The next release on esteemed Glaswegian imprint Numbers will be a four-track EP from Dukwa titled ‘Shattered In A Thousand Pieces’.
The Italian artist is notable as one half of Life’S Track with Planet Mu’s Herva. The pair have been releasing music together since 2011, and clocked up releases through labels such as Black Opal and Florentine outlet Bosconi Records.
In a press release for Dukwa’s forthcoming solo outing, Numbers likened him as the musical equivalent of countryman Andrea Pirlo, describing the producer as “a craftsman, tirelessly creating tracks that equally combine pure class and grit.”
Listening to ‘Thoughts’, the opening cut from the EP, we can see where they’re coming from. It’s a sleekly designed track, featuring smooth vocals from Mar-G, that channels the reverb-soaked emotional resonance of Lovebirds, while an acid line layered beneath the surface adds a gravelly edge.
