Eaves - 7/10

A perfect storm of producers such as Mumdance, Lotic, Rabit, M.E.S.H. and Logos have torn the fabric of club music apart, opening up extreme, exciting possibilities. Their vibe is dark, emotive and in stark contrast to the plodding predictability of house and techno. Now – and we're not complaining – an increasing number of DJs and producers are following their lead and injecting club sets and tracks with jagged edges, awkward rhythms and noisy sonics, which just about describes this continuous piece of music by Eaves.

Split into four 'movements', it pulverises grime, Jersey club, trance and experimental electronics, among other things, into rubble, leaving the listener to dance in the dust, dodging boulders and bolts of lightning. It's certainly thrilling but as more and more of this apocalyptic club music gets made and released, we're left wondering what's next? Hopefully the vision extends beyond SoundCloud and into immersive live experiences, otherwise a promising mini-movement could become a homogenous blur of noise
