East London's Village Underground unveils new rooftop space ahead of 20th anniversary
The open-air terrace will grant visitors access to the venue's iconic tube carriages for the first time
East London music venue Village Underground has shared details of its new rooftop space as it gears up to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Set to open on Friday, July 3, the new open-air terrace will include a central bar with pizza supplied by Bad Boy Pizza, and will be available for attendees of Village Underground's music and club event programming.

Designed by London-based studio MOBO Works, the 300-capacity space will also grant visitors access to the venue's iconic, hollowed-out Jubilee Line train carriages for the first time after they were previously used as a workspace for Village Underground staff.
"For nearly 20 years, we’ve had this suntrap spot on the Shoreditch skyline to ourselves, so it’s exciting to finally be able to share it with our audiences and the local community," says Village Underground CEO Auro Foxcroft.

"The train carriages have been part of how we’ve used the space day to day - from working to interviewing artists - and this feels like the natural next step, opening them up and making them part of the space for everyone to enjoy."
First launched within an abandoned Victorian warehouse in 2006, Village Underground is set to celebrate its 20th birthday this year, though a programme has yet to be announced.
