Drake is the most Shazamed artist of all time
The rapper has surpassed 350 million Shazams - and ‘One Dance’ has 17 million alone
To celebrate Shazam’s 20th birthday, the music disocvery app has released a slew of statistics spanning its two decades of service - which has now surpassed 70 billion Shazams over time.
Drake was noted as the most Shazamed artist of all time collecting some 350 million song recognitions across tracks that the rapper has either featured on or led, while the hit 2016 track ‘One Dance’ has 17 million Shazams alone.
The app also found that the first artist to reach 100 million Shazams was David Guetta who hit the milestone in 2015, while the fastest track to reach 1 million Shazams was BTS’ ‘Butter’ in just nine days.

Tones & I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ reached 20 million in just 219 days and is now the most Shazamed song of all time with 41 million Shazams.
The music discovery service first launched in 2002 with a text messaging system that asked users to call up and hold their phone close to where the music was playing before receiving a text identifying the track.
The first track to ever be Shazamed was 'Jeepster' by T. Rex in April 2002.
In 2008, Shazam then launched for the first time on the app store, and within two years, reached its first million Shazams on one track - Ke$ha’s 2010-released ‘TiK ToK’. The app now boasts a monthly user base of 225 million people.

Shazam has also helped to bolster the careers of up-and-coming artists over time, including Nigerian artist CKay whose ‘Love Nwantiti’ remix reached number one globally and became the second ever song to pass one million Shazams in a week.
“Shazam has played an impactful role in my career,” he told Apple Newsroom. “It allowed millions of people all over the world to discover me and my unique Nigerian sound. It made me a global sensation even before I started to perform all over the world.”
