Föllakzoid’s Dominga is set to launch a brand new FLINTA*-dedicated party and collective in Berlin after she was allegedly targeted in a transphobic attack earlier this month.

ABOV, the new club night and collective, aims to “reclaim spaces” within Berlin’s FLINTA* community (women, lesbian, inter*, non-binary/enby, trans, agender +).

After a debut edition in New York, the first Berlin-based party is due to take place on Wednesday, October 16, at Kreuzberg queer bar Kwia, hosted by Frau Dark.

ABOV’s Berlin debut will include DJ sets from Grinderteeth, cvntmom, Krohm, and a performance from Dominga herself alongside Synthtati, taking place between 8:PM - 2:AM.

The party is described as a “safe space” created by and for Berlin’s FLINTA* community, and those who have been a victim of harassment and discrimination.

“I want ABOV to sonically heal and transcend the cis vibe that currently governs nightlife even in FLINTA* and queer spaces in Berlin (and everywhere else really)," Dominga tells Mixmag.

"Aesthetically in sound, [we want to] give a space and emphasis to subtle and experimental sonic explorations with a glimpse of hedonistic beats, allowing your brain to dance while seducing the bodies to collide in heartfelt rhythms and patterns."

She adds: "It’s a call to action to reclaim and redefine a narrative that has been taken away from us for profit and include aspects of our sexuality and sensuality in spaces that are often dominated by very negative oppressing cis energies."

ABOV’s launch comes in response to an alleged transphobic attack on Dominga at Berlin club Sameheads earlier this month.

In an account of the alleged attack sent to Mixmag, Dominga claims that she was in attendance at Sameheads on Friday, September 6, when she was “violently attacked” by a “cis transphobic woman” in the club bathroom at around 3:AM.

She claimed that the woman first attacked her groin, “violently grabbing and scratching with her nails at my inner thighs”. Dominga also alleged that another trans woman was attacked later that same night.

In a statement sent to Mixmag following the attack, Sameheads claimed it remained in an open dialogue with Dominga, and followed up any action she wished to take against the alleged perpetrator. The club also said that a police report was filed.

"Me and my team will work hard on developing safe spaces for FLINTA* crowds, and especially for minorities within them where we can have deeper connections both with our own bodies and with each other," says Dominga.
