DJs and record labels pay tribute to Roland founder Ikutaro Kakehashi

The game-changing engineer has died aged 87

Ikutaro Kakehashi, the founder of pioneering tech company Roland, has passed away at the age 87.

The Japanese engineer helmed the design and production of drum machines and synthesisers such as the TR-808, TR-909 and TB-303 which had a definitive impact on the evolution of electronic music genres such as house and techno and remain in wide use.
