DJ Sotofett releases his first solo digital single aimed at Philip Sherburne of Pitchfork
A title that says it all
DJ Sotofett released his first solo digital single today.
The track, titled 'Philip Sherburne, your word should be worth more than the ignorance of Pitchfork' arrives with an obvious backstory attached.
The digital single was released on the heels of Stefan Mitterer's recent interview with Sherburne, a current Pitchfork contributing editor. In the interview, Sherburne and the Sex Tapes Mania-head discussed the label's predisposition towards physical releases, making the inaugural digital release of his latest track all the more of a statement. Sotofett's only prior digital releases were remixes on French label Versatile Records, usually alongside frequent collaborator and Versatile boss Gilb'R.
Back in December 2010, Sherburne also did an extensive interview with Mitterer for Resident Advisor, so there certainly seems to be some history between the two. The wordy new track title certainly suggests that DJ Sotofett may be unhappy with how Pitchfork portrayed his interview.
Two versions of the track, the Generic and Alternate Mix, are included. Listen to both over at Hard Wax.
