DJ Lag releases Sinjin Hawke collaboration ‘Raptor’
It’s taken from DJ Lag's upcoming debut album
DJ Lag has released his new single, ‘Raptor’, in collaboration with Canadian-American producer Sinjin Hawke.
The track is from DJ Lag’s upcoming debut album, ‘Meeting with the King’, due for release on February 18.
‘Raptor’’s instrumental represents Gqom’s ‘endless possibilities’. It combines DJ Lag’s minimal, percussive-heavy, looping sound with Hawke’s unique implementation of melodic elements in his productions.

On the collaboration with DJ Lag, Hawke explains: “There’s something special about the way Lag uses drums, they’re so tough and epic yet minimal and spacious at the same time, it has been a treat working with him.”
“We made a bunch of songs together over the pandemic and ‘Raptor’ stood out as the most potent mix of our styles. It was initially composed as an instrumental for a vocalist, but we later found that it sounded great on its own and decided to release it on Lag’s album as a club track.”

The single is accompanied by a video which emphasises the track’s vision: to get people in unison on the dance-floor.
