Discwoman members to join Women’s March on Washington this weekend

They'll join the group DC Techno for Women

Thousands of people will march on Washington D.C. on January 21 as part of the Women’s March, organised to protest the marginalisation of women and the threatening rhetoric expressed by the incoming executive during the past election cycle.

Among the marchers will be DC Techno for Women, a group of over 150 techno DJs and enthusiasts from the DC scene, including members of the influential Discwoman collective. They’ll be visible in the march beneath a banner branded with “DC Techno for Women” for anyone wanting to join them. Further details can be found at Womensmarch.com.

Speaking about the event, Sarah-Wynne Eppes, a music industry worker who helmed the organisation of the event, said: “The electronic music community is energised and eager to stand with women fighting for greater equality – both in the music industry and beyond.

“The techno community is tight-knit. We are constantly coming up with ways to make our dance floors safer, and to create more opportunities for female DJs. The Women’s March on Washington is a great opportunity to raise these issues and celebrate the creative contributions female DJs and women in the arts make to society.”

Following the march, Discwoman members Volvox and Umfang, one of our breakthrough DJs of 2016, will be playing the warehouse party SEQUENCE in the city, tickets are on sale now here.
