Dax J has been sentenced to a year in Tunisian prison
He angered authorities with his choice of track at the weekend
Techno DJ Dax J could face jail time in Tunisia after playing a track sampling the Muslim call to prayer at a festival.
Charged with public indecency and offending public morality by a Tunisian court, he's been sentenced to a year in prison, but is no longer in the country having left before the court proceedings. As he's fled, he won't actually serve any time behind bars, so we doubt he'll going back for gigs anytime soon.
The Berlin-based artist came under fire earlier this week when footage of him playing a track at the club El Guitone, as part of Orbit Festival, appeared online and angered authorities, who said they would "not allow attacks against religious feelings and the sacred."
El Guitone was shut down immediately after and the manager was detained. The charges against him have now been dropped, though, according to the AFP news agency.
Dax J also apologised after the incident, saying "it was never my intention to upset or cause offence to anybody."
