Cut Copy are 'Airborne' on first single in four years

The Melbourne four-piece's new album is due out later this year

Cut Copy have released their first single in four years.

Following last year's ambient 'January' tape release and 2013 LP 'Free Your Mind', 'Airborne' marks another shift in musical direction for the much-loved Melbourne four-piece as psychedelic-inspired funk chords fade into a dream-like minimalist backdrop as the track melts away.

"I guess in this age where a lot of people are making music at laptops, and that's what you watch at a show, we want to capitalise on the fact we're an actual band that performs with instruments, plays shows, jams out. You'll be hearing more of that in our music when it comes out," frontman Dan Whitford told Triple J.

Cut Copy's new album is due out on Astralwerks/EMI later this year. They play Melbourne and Sydney this month.
