Craig Richards launches extended licence Houghton Festival
The three-day Norfolk event takes place in August
Craig Richards and Gottwood have joined forces to put on a brand new festival in Norfolk called Houghton.
The debut event takes place next summer at the scenic spot of Houghton Hall across August 11 to 13, featuring a line-up of artists who will be given the freedom to be adventurous. The late licence will ensure extended sets are the norm, while spontaneous back-to-backs will be encouraged.
World-class soundsystems have also been promised, with more information coming soon.
Ricardo Villalobos will be making the live UK debut of his VILOD project with Max Loderbauer, with the Chilean master also set to DJ.
Further acts locked in to spin alongside Craig Richards include Nicolas Jaar, Ben UFO, Floating Points, Seth Troxler, Ivan Smagghe, Andrew Weatherall, Binh, Dr. Alex Paterson, Nicolas Lutz, Midland, Mr.Scruff, Roman Flügel, SAOIRSE, Nightmares On Wax and Sonja Moonear.
Speaking about Houghton, Craig Richards said: “I've always seen myself as more of a collector than a curator. I'm also much more of an artist than an organiser. I made it clear that the people invited to perform would be chosen on merit. All will be chefs not waiters. All are artists whose talent I value immensely. It is my intention that the festival represents the very best in electronic music and those performing are closest to my heart and record box"
A number of artists will also be called on to decorate the lake, forest and buildings of Houghton Hall with art and sculptures.
