chxmist drops new track from his debut EP

It's a dreamy, ambient affair from the Dublin-based producer

Producer chxmist has released the first track from his forthcoming debut EP, 'Reunion'.

This offering, 'Fevered', dropped on Friday and showcases the artist's ability to meander through ambient textures, melodic arpeggios and complex drumlines to concoct a punchy, yet melodic, cut.

Available via Lost Decay, it toes the line between dreamy downtime listening and nostalgic club banger.

“Similarly with most tracks on the Reunion EP, it started off with me playing around with lots of sounds until I have that ambient, almost dreamy soundscape," he explains. "The driving drums just felt frantic and almost feverish (like a fever dream) and the Sub bass glues it all together. The whole EP has a lot of different sounds and styles but all feel connected."

'Fevered' follows on from two previous tracks by chxmist, 'Waiting for You' and a remix of TOYGIRL'S 'Moonlight Velvet'.

A musical project launched in 2020 by Dublin-based producer Conor Barry, his years of experience as a drummer in a band heavily influence the eclectic sand atmospheric soundscapes of chxmist.

However, initially, the project began as a selection of ambient pieces documenting the isolation and loneliness felt during the first national lockdown during the pandemic.
