CCL shares new mixtape 'A Night In The Skull Discotheque' on T4T LUV NRG

Available to buy in cassette format, a portion of the profits from the mixtape will go to Palestinian relief charities

CCL has shared a new mixtape, 'A Night In The Skull Discotheque', via Eris Drew and Octo Octa's T4T LUV NRG imprint.

Released as an online mix, or available to purchase as a cassette, CCL describes the mixtape as "proto-dubstep" — with influences ranging from the late ‘70s through to the noughties, featuring the likes of Lee 'Scratch' Perry, African Head Charge, Kevin Saunderson, Leftfield and Severed Heads.

The release is claimed to be the "sonic sibling" of CCL’s 2018 mix ‘Ode to Queer Steppas’ and is inspired in part by Eris Drew’s use of “old records to create new styles out of fragments” on her ‘Raving Disco Breaks Vol. 1’.

CCL created the mixtape using 3 CDJs, one Turntable, and a Boss Digital Delay 200 deconstructing many classic at the "wrong speed" on top of playing with pitch and layering.

CCL shares on Instagram: "‘A Night in the Skull Discotheque’ leads us to a fantastical place of timeless surreality – a majestic haunted dancehall soundtracked by a giddy rush of steppers and dubbed-out delights.

"Subs rattle through syncopated percs, and moody synths glisten in macabre glory," they continue. "Fantastical dancers wriggle in wispy eternity, liberated from their corporeal forms in all their greatest spiritual wonder.

"Both extravagant and dusky, ‘A Night in the Skull Discoteque’ is a world of seductive in-betweens, a place caught between the moodiest depths and the highest exuberance – A love letter to one of the most impactful formative sounds of the last decades."

A portion of the profits made from 'A Night In The Skull Discotheque' will be donated to a GoFundMe page which is raising funds for Palestinian relief charities Palästina Kampagne and ELSC.

Tracklist: Side A: Bass is Eternal Side B: 2-step Mutual Dream
