Campaigners are fighting to keep Liverpool club 24 Kitchen Street open
Property development in the Baltic Triangle is putting it under threat
24 Kitchen Street in Liverpool is campaigning to stay open as building development threatens its existence.
Promoter CMD is throwing an event, Get Up Stand Up, at the Baltic Triangle venue on June 23, with all proceeds going towards the fight to remain a music space.
The Get Up Stand Up event page reads: "With the continuing threat of gentrification to our cultural areas growing, we aim to raise awareness of this struggle by bringing together some of the finest acts around, to show how important these places are to our towns and cities.
"24 Kitchen Street has been a cornerstone of Liverpool's music scene for years and this lineup reflects the rich diversity of talent that it welcomes through its doors regularly."
200 flats are proposed to be built in the surrounding area and it's believed noise from the venue will endanger its future.
Last year, Nation, the home of Cream, was demolished as part of a redevelopment of Wolstenholme Square. The Kazimier also had to close its doors.
24 Kitchen Street has hosted Avalon Emerson, Orpheu The Wizard, Lauren Lo Sung and George FitzGerald.
