Björk has claimed an unnamed director sexually harassed her
“I am inspired by the women everywhere who are speaking up online”
Björk has taken to social media to speak out about her experience of being sexually harassed by an unnamed Danish director.
The Icelandic singer describes entering the film industry as an actress and the difference she felt in coming from the music world.
She wrote on Facebook: "At the time I came from position of strength in the music world with hard earned independence, it was extremely clear to me when I walked into the actresses profession that my humiliation and role as a lesser sexually harassed being was the norm and set in stone with the director.
“I became aware of that it is a universal thing that a director can touch and harass his actresses at will and the institution of film allows it.”
Björk said the director “sulked" and "punished” her after she turned him down repeatedly, and created “an impressive net of illusion where I was framed as the difficult one”.
She said she could walk away from the project as she had no further ambition in film, but worried other actresses couldn’t.
