Unreleased Notorious BIG track 'G.O.A.T' dropped as NYC celebrates first "Big Day"

Brooklyn residents waited for "hours" to get hold of limited edition Biggie MetroCards

This weekend, a posthumous track from Notorious BIG titled 'G.O.A.T' was dropped to celebrate the seminal rapper's birthday.

Released on Saturday, May 21 — the date the hip hop icon, real name Christopher George Latore Wallace, would have turned 50 — 'G.O.A.T' features contributions from Ty Dolla $ign and Bella Alubo.

The track has been released by Biggie's estate as part of a deal signed in April 2021 with WME Legends to manage and maintain the Notorious BIG brand.

The track comes as the rapper's home town of New York came together to celebrate his life. NYC Mayor Eric Adams officially declared that May 21 would be "Big Day" from thus forth.

The Empire State Building was lit up in red and white on Saturday night, with a crown halo moving at its spire.

Brooklyn residents reportedly waited in lines "for hours" to get hold of a special edition Biggie Smalls MetroCards.

“It’s Biggie Smalls. He’s an icon,” an eager local told the New York Post. “Who’s not going to want this, being born and raised in Brooklyn?”
