12. Storm Queen 'Look Right Through' (MK vocal) (Defected)

11. Green Velvet 'Bigger Than Prince' (The Martinez Brothers remix) (Circus)

10. Tiga Vs Audion 'Let's Go Dancing' (Turbo Recordings) This slow-rising, low-key piece of techno gives way to a commanding vocal so persuasive, it became the centrepiece of almost every DJ set worth its salt in the second half of 2013.

9. Ten Walls 'Gotham' (Innervisions) This spooky and ethereal number was the jewel in Innervisions' 2013 crown, played by everyone from Sven Väth to Dixon.

8. Hot Natured feat Anabel Englund 'Reverse Skydiving' (Hot Creations) Hot Natured prove again that nobody translates underground sounds into pop hits better.

7. Breach 'Jack' (Dirtybird) Ben Westbeech's DJ alias of Breach came good with this slice of Ibiza-perfect bumping house and a refrain so universal, they were singing it back in Timbuktu.

6. Disclosure feat Eliza Doolittle 'You & Me' (Flume remix) (PMR) Flume took one of Disclosure's poppiest cuts and turned it into a string laden slice of grandiose melancholia.

5. Duke Dumont feat A*M*E 'Need U (100%)' (Blasé Boys Club) Duke Dumont let the music do the talking, taking this classy house number to the top.

4. Disclosure Feat AlunaGeorge 'White Noise' (PMR) Played everywhere from Ibiza to Ibstock, in no small part thanks to Aluna Francis' sassy vocal.

3. Midland 'Trace' (Aus Music) Stark, tough, and in many ways a perfect bedfellow to our No 2 track of the year, this booming drum and muffled vocal were the perfect antidote to all the schmaltzy house in 2013.

2. Paul Woolford 'Untitled' (Hotflush Recordings) Paul Woolford's Special Request alias made a massive noise in 2013, but it was this driving, piano-led house anthem that reigned supreme in clubs since its release in July.

1. Daft Punk 'Get Lucky' (Columbia) Let's face it, from the moment it stole the show at Coachella when a 30-second clip was played on the big screen, its position at the top of our chart was never in doubt. 'Get Lucky' punctured the reign of everything-but-the-kitchen-sink rave-pop in one fell sequinned-jacket swoop, and announced the biggest musical return in living memory. Nile Rodgers, Pharrell, Daft Punk and the biggest chorus this side of 'One More Time'. How could it have possibly failed?
