Ben UFO says back-to-back sets are more than just a ticket-selling gimmick
"I've learned a lot from everyone I've DJed with"
A back-to-back set from two monumental DJs undoubtedly sparks a special type of excitement. But as of late, many argue that the trend of collaborative sets between big names are more of a hype gimmick than landmark performance.
Ben UFO has taken to Facebook to relay his strong opinions on the subject, contending that "b2b DJing" has been an important and integral part of his artistic development: "I grew up playing music with friends and in groups, learning to listen that way and participating in something that was bigger than any one person."
The Hessle Audio leader also defends the practice of highly dissimilar producers DJ playing records together, explaining that although a connection is necessary, forcing an artist to step out of their comfort zone and bring spontaneous reactions can spark new talents and discovery.
UFO goes on to mention his upcoming extended set with Hunee at this year's ADE, one he is nervous and excited for over his varying tastes with the artist.
