Batu announces debut album on Timedance, ‘Opal’
Coming on April 29
Batu has unveiled plans to release his first-ever full-length record this coming April via Timedance, titled ‘Opal’.
The debut record will mark Batu’s longest release after 10 years working in music production, an 11-track LP combining boundless genres and experimental cuts.
‘Opal’ will hit Batu’s own imprint, Timedance, on April 29, adding to an ongoing collection of releases from the likes of Laksa, Giant Swan, Air Max ’97, and Metrist.

“Opal was a project which took shape throughout 2020 when the world seemed to stop. The break in many ways was welcome for me, a chance to reflect and rethink what I wanted to achieve as an artist,” Batu said on the forthcoming release.
“Hopefully the album is a glimpse into where I'm going. It's designed as a long play, I think it makes most sense to listen to as a whole. I always loved albums that transport you to a different world which feels vivid and detailed, and I guess that's what I aimed for.”
The record will ride through waves of leftfield techno, ‘melodic and textural forms’, and different moods aiming to transport the listener to ‘another world’.

“Of course big projects like this have a huge amount of people working on them behind the scenes, so thanks to everyone involved in bringing this to life. Feel very lucky to have so many great people around me,” he said.
