Balraj Singh Samrai and Farah Ahmad Khan collaborate on ecoconscious ‘Planet-People-Power’

The 11 minute work combines music production, field samples of nature, interviews, poetry and more

Swing Ting co-founder Balraj Singh Samrai and Farah Ahmad Khan have teamed up to create ‘Planet-People-Power’, an 11 minute work combining music production, field samples of nature, interviews, poetry and more.

Made in response to climate change and in support of Climate Justice, it explores topics such as Black, Indigeneous & South Asian diaspora experiences of environmental inequality and the ecological connections between Manchester and the Global South.

The project was commissioned by Manchester Museum & Season for Change.

Alongside Balraj Singh Samrai and Farah Ahmad Khan, Jamaican artists and vocalists Gavsborg and Shanique Marie of Equiknoxx and Asian Dub Foundation’s Pandit G bring emotionally-charged perspectives to the storytelling work.

It also features interview excerpts from climate activist Pooja Kishinani, Curator of Indigenous Perspectives Alexandra P. Alberda & Manchester-based writer, performance artist and producer Keisha Thompson, and the voice of children expressing the urgency for taking action against climate change.
