35 killed in attack on Istanbul nightclub during an NYE party

The attack occured shortly after midnight

Multiple attackers dressed in Santa Claus suits opened fire in an Instanbul nightclub, just after midnight on New Year's Day. At least 35 have been reported dead with dozens more wounded.

The nightclub called Reina was filled with people for New Year's Eve celebrations and around 1:15AM, the attackers fired at the police officers in front before heading inside the packed club.

The Governor of the Istanbul provence is calling the incident a terrorist attack: "One person first kills the police officer outside, and then a civilian," the governor said. "Inside, he rained bullets brutally, mercilessly over innocent people who were there just to celebrate the New Year and have fun."

This story is still developing.
