A$AP Rocky forced to cancel European tour dates while detained in Sweden

A petition to free the rapper has gained over 60,000 signatures

Following his arrest and detention in Sweden on an assault charge, A$AP Rocky's management has released a statement stating that all July tour dates and festival appearances scheduled for the rapper have been cancelled.

The statement said: “A$AP Rocky is being detained in a Swedish jail for an unknown period of time for acting in self-defence during an altercation that took place. Due to this unfortunate situation, he is forced to cancel his European festival and tour dates in July,”

The rapper has already missed shows at Kadetten Festival in Norway, Longitude in Dublin and Wireless in London among others. The recently released J Hus filled in for the rapper at the latter date.

A$AP Rocky was imprisoned following a street fighting incident, where Rocky claims two men harassed him and he acted in self defence.

Whether the rapper will be able to perform at August tour dates is currently unclear, with a hearing due to be held next month. His request for an appeal was rejected by Swedish courts as he remains under a pre-trial detention for two weeks.

The rapper is currently being held in solitary confinement under inhumane conditions, according to sources close to the situation.
