Apple Music may acquire Tidal
The streaming titans have each owned major exclusive releases
Since its introduction in October 2014, Tidal's journey has been a dichotomy of heavy, foreboding criticisms upon its celebrity-endorsed release and high peaks with exclusive holds on some of 2016's most massive releases like Kanye's 'The Life of Pablo' and Beyonce's 'Lemonade'.
Now, it seems as though a direct competitor in the streaming arms race may be interested in acquiring the platform. Apple Music has expressed its interest in Tidal's high-tier artists and exclusive releases.
Apple Music found a mega win of its own with Drake's exclusive release of his latest LP 'Views', which has sparked a clamoring between the platforms to grab huge artist releases to entice subscribers to sign up for the service.
Though nothing has been inked yet, the potential combination of Apple Music and Tidal could place Apple Music neck-in-neck with Spotify, which still remains a leader with 30 million paid subscribers.
