The Senegalese artists prefers to keep things "family friendly" on "god's day"
In an interview with The Guardian, US-Senegalese singer Akon revealed that he refrains from making “too many shake-your-ass songs” on “the Lord’s day”.
Instead, the singer says he sticks to making “family-friendly” music on Sundays, per an interview where he also chats about junk food, travelling, and family.
In response to a question on whether he works on a Sunday, the 49-year-old replied: ”Sometimes. The music I make on Sundays is more family-friendly.

“You don’t want too many ‘shake-your-asses’ on the Lord’s day. Else I might be playing a birthday or barmitzvah,” he added.
Known for ass-shaking hits including ‘Smack That’, ‘I Wanna Love You’, and ‘Right Now (Na Na Na)’, Akon has also recently released his sixth studio record ‘TT Freak’, two decades since the release of his debut.
“Sunday is quiet – the peace does me good. Silence is the soundtrack to a day off in the music industry,” Akon told The Guardian. “Every day is spiritual; I’m not a religious person. Religious knowledge is passed down depending on who knows what; it’s not always accurate.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the R&B singer speaks about lazy days and spending time with his family, explaining a ‘perfect Sunday in Atlanta’: “A few games at the TopGolf driving range, then to the Avalon centre for soul food and shopping.”
In the ‘Sunday with’ column, Akon also revealed that he has a bowling alley in his basement. “There’s always a schedule if [the kids] are around: movies, sports, bowling… I’ve got an alley in my basement, that helps,” he said.
