A documentary on the disastrous Fyre Festival fiasco is coming to Hulu

It's been nearly one year since the shady event organizers attempted to put on Fyre Festival, the luxury destination event in the Bahamas that turned out to be an absolute disaster. Now a documentary series is set to land on Hulu, which will attempt to outline the entire fiasco.

The as yet untitled project is a multi-episode documentary that's being produced by Billboard, Mic and The Cinemart. It features interviews with locals, vendors, investors and of course the festival attendees that were left stranded in one of the most outrageous festival fails of all time.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the team developing the project has also obtained never before seen footage of the debacle as well as leaked documents, emails and audio recordings that outline how paid ticket holders were deceived.

To recap what we already know, Fyre Festival was organized by Ja Rule and Billy McFarland’s Fyre Media company. It developed an image of luxury due to a major social media campaign that had famous celebrities post on Instagram to off the festival's beach paradise offerings. Tickets ranged from $4,000 to $12,000 and the lineup featured Major Lazer, Disclosure, Skepta, Kaytranada and more. That said, artists pulled out before the festival began without any knowledge to ticketholders. Once patrons arrived, they were met with an empty beach, dismal tent conditions and bread and cheese for meals.

Recently, McFarland was forced to plead guilty to federal wire fraud and was ordered to pay back $26 million to his investors. He also faces up to 40 years on top of $100 million worth of civil lawsuits.

The upcoming documentary series on Fyre Festival is set to arrive on Hulu in 2019.
