Carl Cox awarded OBE in King's Birthday Honours List 2026

Fellow DJ Judge Jules has also been honoured with an MBE in recognition for his services to music

Carl Cox has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) as part of the King's Birthday Honours List 2026. 

Unveiled on Friday (June 12), the Birthday Honours List recognises those who have made significant contributions to arts, science, medicine, or government over a long period of time.

Cox has been awarded an OBE for his contributions to UK music; he is joined by fellow dance music legend Judge Jules, who was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) on the list. 

In a statement shared with Mixmag, Cox said: “To receive this honour for doing something that has brought me so much joy is truly humbling. Oh yes, oh yes!”

"Music has been my life for as long as I can remember and I've been fortunate to do what I love and to connect with so many amazing people through the power of music," he continues. "This recognition is not mine alone - it belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey." 

"To the fans who have supported me throughout the years, the artists who have inspired and collaborated with me, the promoters, crews, and teams working tirelessly behind the scenes, my family, friends, and the wider electronic music community: thank you!"

Judge Jules shared his own joy at the honour via Instagram on Saturday (June 13), writing: "Being awarded my MBE by the King is one of the greatest honours of my life. It’s a moment of enormous pride, tempered with humility."

"Thank you to everyone who has been with me throughout the years. Your encouragement, loyalty and passion have made my life story possible," he adds. "This honour belongs to all of us."
