Legendary DJ and podcaster Fat Tony, real name Anthony Marnach, has said that he was violently assaulted during a set at The Lido, Margate on Friday (December 13) in an apparent homophobic attack.

The reported incident left him hospitalised, forcing the I Don't Take Requests author to cancel a show at Bar Number 90 in Hackney Wick, London on Saturday (December 14). The show has now been rescheduled until January 25, 2025.

Marnach shared a video to his Instagram page on Saturday, in which he exhibited a swollen eye and bruised face. “I can’t really go into details," he told followers in the video. "But I was attacked last night at a gig, in the DJ box by another DJ, which resulted in me being knocked out and taken to hospital.

“Obviously, you can see by the damage on my face and the swelling that it’s not good,” he continued. “I’m absolutely gutted. I’m gutted this happened. I’m gutted that people choose violence especially when what we try to do comes from a place of love.”

He shared further details with RA, claiming that the incident began while Marnach was DJing and the alleged assailant entered the DJ booth with his entourage, and they began arguing. He said that the DJ then pushed Marnoch three times, before they initially settled their differences.

“Then his mate comes up and says: 'What's your problem you fucking queer?’” he told RA. “I then went back into the booth to get my USB stick and that's the last thing I remember. I was totally knocked out, and I'm told the DJ was trying to stamp on my head while I was unconscious on the floor.”

Marnoch shared a second post to his Instagram account yesterday (December 15), in which he thanked people for their support and said that Kent Police were investigating the incident.

No arrests have yet been made, and the identity of his alleged attacker has not been revealed.
