John Digweed cancels multiple gigs following hospitalisation

His management said in a statement that John is “very ill” and remains in hospital

Update 30/09: This story has been amended to correct an error that all of John Digweed's forthcoming gigs have been cancelled — so far just three have been cancelled

John Digweed cancelled several gigs this weekend after falling ill, his management have confirmed in a statement.

The British DJ and producer has been in a Los Angeles hospital since Monday, September 23, according to Guadalajara venue Bar Americas, where he was due to perform last week.

In a statement posted on Instagram over the weekend, Digweed’s management explained: “John is very ill and in the hospital. Due to his present condition, he will sadly not be able to attend any of his concerts this weekend including Guadalajara, and with Sasha in Mexico City and Dallas.”

While the cause of his hospitalisation has not been confirmed, his management asked fans to “join us in wishing him a speedy recovery”. They added: “We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused his fans.”

Bar Americas said in a statement that fans had travelled to Guadalajara for John Digweed’s show, explaining: “We were waiting for John to announce it on social media before, but we decided not to wait any longer and always be honest in the face of any adversity.”

“Let's hope the big boss recovers soon,” they said. “In the next few days we will inform you of the new date or you can request a refund, we are very sorry.”

As well as Digweed’s Guadalajara show, his forthcoming performances in Dallas and Mexico City alongside Sasha were also cancelled. Cookie Presenta, the promoter hosting his show in Mexico City, told fans that the event would continue with a solo performance from Sasha.

“[Digweed's] health condition is very delicate and uncertain at the moment,” Cookie Presenta said (via EDM Tunes). “John gradually became ill and he thought what he had was something temporary.”

“We have been waiting for John to make a statement about his health, but the fact that he is not able to publish anything personally is something that worries us, John’s agent has also expressed the same to us.”
