Aldonna launches label Re-leaf, shares its debut release 'Female Fatale'

"As the title ‘Female Fatale’ may suggest, this EP is dedicated to all the ‘dangerous’ women in the world"

Aldonna has launched her new label this week, Re-leaf Records, simultaneously sharing its lead EP 'Female Fatale'.

Shared with powerful sentiment, and marking the DJ and producers third EP, the record meanders through 90s-inspired progressive house and slinky introspective cuts.

“I’m really proud to share my debut self released EP under my new label Re-Leaf. Starting my own label has been a goal since the beginning, and after many releases on some of favourite labels, it really felt like the right time to do so,” Aldonna explains. “I’ve created this label as an avenue to explore my own sound, and to potentially involve other artists that I really support down the track.”

“As the title ‘Female Fatale’ may suggest, this EP is dedicated to all the ‘dangerous’ women in the world. What I classify as a dangerous women is a women that is a danger to the societal norms of how we are told we should be. The women that are told they’re ‘too much’ because they are not afraid to speak their mind and set their boundaries. The women that are authentically themselves and not afraid to express that. The women that know what they want in life and aren’t afraid to chase it. The women that paved the way in male dominated industries so future generations wouldn’t have it as hard, and the women still fighting for basic human rights all over the world.

"This EP is dedicated to them and with each track I delved into a different side of my own wells of how I express my femininity."

Opener 'Rush', she explains, "represents playfulness and openness to love and connection" with its various melodies, whereas 'Venus' embodies sensuality and allure. "This song was actually inspired by my personal experiences during my time in a certain club in Berlin last year, and when I wrote the track I really wanted to re-create that feeling that I felt on the dance floor for many hours", she adds.

'March, Together' is the most driving affair, intending to assert courage and strength. "When writing this I was deep in my sorrowed thoughts of how far humanity has collectively strayed from our natural state as beings which is in fact ‘love’," she notes. "As I was scrolling through my samples I stumbled across the one I used which states ‘we march together, and we work together’ and I immediately felt compelled to include it."

Meanwhile, 'Break Love' - the final EP track - is described by the Australian as an "outlier", which offers "the perfect representation of 'softness'".
