ANNA is the latest artist to curate the Global Underground series
'GU46: Lisbon' is influenced by the city in which the Brzilian has lived for several years
ANNA is the latest to curate the seminal Global Underground series, this week sharing 'GU46: Lisbon'.
The release embraced a variety of styles and genres, meandering between ambient, house and techno, underpinned by her recent embracing of spirituality., perhaps most obviously embodied by her single 'Kalimba Dreams'..
Elsewhere on 'GU46: Lisbon', listeners can find a collaborative track with Rebūke and original contributions from Wehbba, Paul Roux and Victor Ruiz. Other artists featured on the record include BICEP, Bonobo and Jacques Green, TSHA and Daniel Avery.

"I grew up near São Paulo, but I see myself as a citizen of the world," ANNA tells Mixmag. "Most people know me as a techno artist, but since 2017 I’ve been releasing ambient music, and slowly working towards combining those two sides of myself. Lately, spirituality has had a big impact on the music I make and the way I present it. I’m learning to trust my intuition and prioritise spiritual growth, and that’s how I navigated this project.
"CD2 explores the harder side of my sound, and CD1 represents the soft, mellow, ambient side. Both of these CDs are true representations of myself, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to build a project that fully displays the spectrum of my sound, with the energy rooted in Lisbon. It’s a city where I feel totally at home and at peace - not just because it reminds me of Brazil, but because it has this unique energy that activates my spirit. Nowhere makes me feel as creative, inspired and fulfilled as Lisbon."
