A Glasgow nightclub has been providing aid to the homeless community

Glasgow's Victoria’s Nightclub is giving aid to help the local homeless community.

The city centre venue, situated on Sauchiehall Street, has been in partnership with Rest Bite to give temporary comfort to rough sleepers.

In its live lounge space, the club has created a programme where people in need can receive shelter from the harsh weather, a warm meal, and supplies to take away with them.

The evenings run from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Licensing laws mean the event cannot be extended to run throughout the night.

Following the success of the past week’s event the club has organised two more evenings, the next on January 17 and then January 24.

The club manager has issued a donation appeal with hints of making the project a regular occurrence if successful.

Although the club’s staff will be on hand to make sure the events run smoothly, volunteers are also welcome.

An appeal for supply donations such as food, water, unused backpacks, clothes, and blankets has been released.
