As graffiti teasers that read 'MUTEK San Francisco' started popping up all-throughout the Bay Area back in September 2017, Mixmag successfully confirmed that the music and technology festival MUTEK would be making its US debut in San Francisco this coming May.

After much patience, the first phase of the festival’s line-up has now arrived. Taking place between May 3 - 6, the festival is set to go down in 10 locations scattered throughout the city - including Bimbo’s, The California Academy of Sciences, Mezzanine, Heron Arts and more.

The line-up includes a plethora of established artists, experimental acts and unique collaborations. This splendid initial list includes Lee Gamble, Braille & Chelley Sherman, Russell E.L. Butler, Francesco Tristano feat. Derrick May, Kyoka, Tim Hecker, Orphx, Telefon Tel Aviv, Perera Elsewhere, Convextion and more.

Since its debut in 2000, MUTEK’s reputation for fostering and elevating live contemporary electronic music has spread like wildfire. With annual festivals now established in Mexico City, Tokyo, Barcelona, Dubai, Buenos Aires and its hometown of Montreal, MUTEK’s global expansion shows no signs of slowing down.
