YouTube acquires valuable artist marketing startup
A new venture that allows users to directly connect with their favorite acts
YouTube has announced the exciting new acquisition of BandPage, a West Coast, US based startup that allows artists to interact and sell merchandise, tickets and content to their fans through third party services.
With the new add-on, users can access social media sites like Facebook, streaming services like Soundcloud and ticketing outlets like Live Nation directly from a musician's YouTube channel. The company already has over 500,000 artists enrolled and plans to increase their repertoire with their new collaboration. BandPage gives artists the ability to customize their catalogs and offer specialized commodities for notably dedicated fans. Currently, the application's partners prove its value extremely lucrative with contracts involving Spotify, Shazam, Vevo, iHeartRadio, Twitter, Stubhub, Google and those mentioned above.
YouTube hopes that their new procurement, with its targeted ad base approach, will help monetize their platform in ways previously untouched.
