Erol Alkan’s celebrated 2006 December Mixmag Cover Mix, the same edition in which the DJ/producer was named DJ Of The Year, is now on Apple Music.

This was Erol’s first-ever cover mix for Mixmag and celebrated a particularly special era for DJ and Duran Duran producer Alkan, who was very much spear-heading the electro sound of the time, with producers and artists like Justice, Peaches and Switch very much present and correct.

“2006 was a year which went by so fast it felt like a matter of months, so much so that I barely absorbed what actually happened and am still making sense of it a little more now," Alkan says.

"Mixmag's endorsement as their 'DJ of the Year' is something which didn't really fully register with me so much then, but I'm really grateful for now. It amplified our voices and was also a time where I felt I was finding my feet as a producer and remixer, with two of my most favourite reworks for Justice and Hot Chip bookending it.”
