New York City celebrates "Wu-Tang Clan Day"

The Empire State Building was lit up in black and yellow to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 'Enter the Wu-Tang' yesterday

New York City celebrates "Wu-Tang Clan Day"

Iconic hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan were celebrated in New York City yesterday (November 9), for the newly-established Wu-Tang Clan Day.

Announced by Mayor, Eric Adams, the date coincided the 30-year anniversary of their debut album 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)'. To mark Wu-Tang Clan Day, the Empire State Building was lit in their signature yellow and black to commemorate the group.

Running up to the official day the Gramercy Theatre ran a Wu-Tang celebration including a pop-up shop in East Village. From yesterday, Legacy Records released a special edition of 'Enter the Wu-Tang' on vinyl.

This special edition box set includes a pack of album-themed trading cards, along with a book of notes on the LP, photos and interviews with key Wu-Tang member RZA. Check out the special edition of 'Enter the Wu-Tang' here.

Last month, released their first single in six years, ‘Claudine’.

The track includes verses from Wu-Tang members Method Man and Ghostface Killah, as well as a feature from Dutch singer and Roc Nation signee Nicole Bus.

Produced by Wu-Tang's long-time collaborator DJ Mathematics, the track is based on the 1974 Harlem-based film Claudine, covering similar themes to the film such as heartbreak and love.
