We’ve reached the timeline of the original Blade Runner
Thanks to Leon's incept date
For many loyal fans of the iconic sci-fi film Blade Runner, today marks a special day as we have reached the beginning of the film’s timeline in our reality.
Although Ridley Scott’s legendary movie takes place in 2019, the star of the film, Harrison Ford, is tasked with terminating or “retiring”, a “replicant” by the name of Leon Kowalski. Leon was created or has an “incept date” of April 10, 2017, meaning that's when Blade Runner’s timeline officially begins.
As we patiently await for the film’s sequel, Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring ryan Gosling, more pieces of the forthcoming have been revealed, including the trailer and images from the set.
Blade Runner 2049 will be released October 6, 2017.
Watch the opening sequence from Blade Runner below, revealing the first time we meet Leon as he takes the Voight-Kampff test to determine if he is a human or a replicant.
