Watch Kevin Saunderson collect samples in a Detroit Ford factory
The techno originator found resemblances between the factory and what happens in the studio
There's now a video showing Kevin Saunderson collecting samples in a Ford factory in Detroit.
We reported on the Belleville Three member's trip to Ford Motor Co.'s Michigan Assembly Plant back in November and now you can watch him making his way around the factory and taking his collected sounds into the studio.
Ford Today posted the three-minute video on YouTube, with the techno DJ and producer talking about what impressed him and the similarities between the machinery noises and early stages of production.
"What impressed me most about the Ford Assembly Plant was the stampers. When the sheet metal was getting stamped, the rhythm, the mechanics, the sound, the power of it all - it was quite ironic when I first got in there as I heard a few sounds that were very unique to me.
"When I create, my parts move. They either move digitally, some move analogue and lights are moving. If I look in the plant, it was some of that same stuff going on."
Watch him collect his samples below.
