Watch a new short film from Kendrick Lamar, ‘We Cry Together’
Starring Lamar and Taylour Paige, the six-minute film was shot in just one take
Kendrick Lamar has released a short film to go alongside his track ‘We Cry Together’ from the May-released record ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’.
At six minutes long, the film features the full track starring Lamar himself, as well as American actress Taylour Paige.
More than two years since it was first made in just a single shot take, the previously theatre-exclusive film is now available to watch.

Directed by Lamar, Jake Schreier, Dave Free, and Adam Newport-Berra on cinematography, the film sees two characters argue at home before having sex on the sofa.
The argument is tracked by the one-shot camera and incorporates live vocals.
Originally filmed back in March 2020, ‘We Cry Together’ was first shown at the Laemmle Royal Theater in West LA with showings running every day between June 3 to June 9.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, viewers of the film were mostly family, friends and film crew connected to the piece with only 20 members of the public allowed at each viewing.

Because ‘We Cry Together’ was screened theatrically, the film will be able to go up for an Academy Award qualifying for nominations in the Best Live Action Short category.
In May, Lamar announced the ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’ world tour with the tagline: 'Come help Mr. Morale get out of the box'.
Joining him on tour across all dates are pgLang artists Baby Keem and Tanna Leone, who will join for select dates. This includes eight shows across the UK and Ireland, with two shows scheduled for London's O2 in November.
