Tempa's legendary Allstars series is always worth checking, but the latest volume keeps things properly moving forward. Enlisting some of dubstep's brightest (Epoch, Biome, Acre), and most legendary (Youngsta, Distance) talents, Vol 8 nods firmly to the future of the sound without compromise. From Epoch's searing, fully dubbed-out 'The Ville' to the rolling, tech-leaning step of Cliques' 'AUT' and the fractured, industrial backdrop of Acre's 'Messages', this is a body of individual, off-shoot sounds – tracks grounded by dub, but rooted in their maker's minds. Distance and Youngsta do add their own classic twist on a booming, spaced-out untitled cut too, but it's left to newcomer Biome to sign off on the gritty, abrasive 'Closed Minds'.
