Bouncers from The White Hotel in Salford were taken to hospital at the weekend after a suspected acid attack in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Local reports say they had a liquid thrown at them after a man, allegedly carrying a knife, was ejected from the venue, where Detroit group Dopplereffekt were playing, and returned to carry out the attack.

Greater Manchester Police found an empty bottle outside the venue on Dickinson Street and believed it contained acid, according to Manchester Evening News.

The White Hotel issued a statement on Facebook about the incident: "We are shocked and saddened about the random attack on two of our door team last night. Our thoughts are with them at this time and we will endeavour to support them.

"We are doing all we can to support the police investigation and if anyone has any info at all, however insignificant you feel it maybe, please contact GMP on the number below."

It has also set up a crowd fund to aid the recovery of the door staff. Head here to donate.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to call 0161 856 5461.
