Two teenagers die following SWG3 event in Glasgow

Two teenagers have died after falling ill at Glasgow-based venue SWG3 this weekend.

Both had attended an "all-day" outdoors rave at the Galvanizers Yard club, which featured 10-hour headline set from Newcastle-born DJ Ben Hemsley.

Emergency services were called to Croy train station, Constarry Road, Lanarkshire at around 11:20 PM on Saturday (August 12), Glasgow Live reports.

An 18-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie, but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police were then called to the venue itself at around 2:20AM on Sunday (August 13), after reports that another 18-year-old man had collapsed.

The as-yet-unidentified attendee was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, but was also sadly confirmed to have died soon after arrival.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland has confirmed that they have informed the next of kin of both teenagers, and will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances around their deaths.

A SWG3 spokesperson told Mixmag: “We are devastated at the news and our deepest sympathies are with the families. We will continue to assist the police with their inquiries.”

According to Glasgow Live, investigations into the deaths are ongoing with officers confirming an inquiry into the deaths being drug-related.

Further enquiries are ongoing on whether the deaths were linked.
