Throwing Shade
The rising Londoner steps out on Ninja Tune
Throwing Shade is one of the most creative producers currently operating out of London's bustling underground scene.
Since debuting on Kassem Mosse's Ominira in 2013, she's crafted a sound that deals as much in dancefloor hypnosis as it does ethereal beauty.
That record announced her as a producer dealing a rich blend of velveteen r'n'b, strung-out psychedelia and gently throbbing house. Although she took a rough-but-focused techno detour on Happy Skull, she continued to stir her magick brew on two stunning EPs for No Pain In Pop.
Those records were her most realised work to date (especially last year's immersive 'Fate Xclusive') but now she's taking things to the next level, with an EP for esteemed UK imprint Ninja Tune.
Having followed her movements since that first drop in '13, we're incredibly excited to hear her serve up her enchanting electronic music on such an on-point label. This latest record is called 'House Of Silk' and it's an apt title for an EP that swings between lush moments of ambience and uplifting, motorik house (plus certified banger 'Hashtag IRL').
We've got the first play of 'Fear Of Silence', a wonderfully deep jam that'll melt any lingering winter blues right away.
'House Of Silk' is out on March 4 via Ninja Tune. The launch party takes place in London on March 10
