DJs, promoters and record labels have sent their condolences to those at The BPM Festival after this morning's shooting.

Shots were fired during the Elrow closing party at Blue Parrot in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, with Mexican media outlet Milenio TV reporting the death toll has risen to five after BPM originally confirmed four deaths.

Mixmag's US Digital Editor was at the venue and provided a detailed account on the shooting, rumoured to be cartel-related.

Dance music figures, including The Black Madonna, Carl Craig, Moxie and Adam Beyer, have taken to Twitter to send messages of love to all at the Mexican festival.
