Italo's always been popular in the disco scene, the likes of the Cosmonauts and Danielle Baldelli have been hammering it home for years. However, with DJs like The Black Madonna **electro one seb likes) gaining more and more props with the hipsters and the early Metro Area sound sneaking back into sets from Kölsch to Skream, the stark machine funk of Italo seems more relevant than ever. Obviously it needs a modern twist and who better to deliver this than The Emperor Machine. 'Love Lick' consists of a half bar synth riff set agains basic raw 80s drums. They add trippy sounds, lush atmospheric chords and leave it at that. The simple, raw and effective antidote to 'poolside' nu-disco.
