Terrence Dixon wants to open a techno club in Detroit
He's launched a crowdfund for Minimal Detroit Lounge and says Juan Atkins is confirmed as a resident
There could be a new Detroit club on the way if Terrence Dixon's crowdfunding campaign's a success.
Launching a GoFundMe initiative to get Minimal Detroit Lounge open, the Motor City DJ and producer, who released last album 'Badge Of Honor' in 2013, says the reason for doing so is because of the city being devoid of techno clubs.
"Today, sadly, Detroit's own artists have to perform abroad in order to have a career in music, because there is currently not a single club dedicated to this style of electronic music."
If it goes ahead, Dixon says Juan Atkins will be a resident, with Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills and DJ Pierre all possible bookings and, if all goes to plan, it'll open on the same weekend as Movement Festival.
It wasn't too long ago the owner of Tresor went out to Detroit with a view of turning a derelict factory into a club as well.
